Total Insanity

Sorry I haven’t posted in a good long while.  Trust me, that is definitely going to change!  So many random and out of the ordinary things have been happening in the last couple of months.  I am moving into my new studio space  in Dana Point Harbor!  It’s awesome!  I’m so excited about all that it will be doing for Jason Meyer Photography.  My web designer randomly and accidentally deleted my website and all my images!  I am forced to do a redesign and the timing couldn’t be any worse!  Stay tuned for the new site that will hopefully go live before the end of the month.  In other random news, I am also contributing to a business blog once a week on Fridays.  You can read those posts over here.  http://smallbusiness.logoworks.com/bizblog/author/jason-meyer-photography/.

Have a wonderful memorial day!

PPA Business Workshop

I’ve been so busy lately in so many good ways. ‘Tis the Season’ to do album design and my assistant Penny and I have been working tirelessly and getting all of your wedding albums done and delivered to Leathercraftsmen and GraphiStudio.

I also spent most of last week in Atlanta, GA at a workshop designed to enhance my business and keep me organized! I find it so helpful to have organizations like PPA available to keep me accountable and on track so that I can provide the best, most organized, and professional service available. I took away alot of great ideas that we will be incorporating into our business this year. Keep checking back to see some of these enhancements coming down the pike!

Check out these photos of all my new photography friends! Special thanks to Ann Monteith and Carol Andrews for a great week!

Rob and Cinthya

Here are some images from a great Santa Monica Wedding that I had the privilege of photographing recently. Being on the beach in the fall and winter time is awesome! Even though the sun goes down much faster than in the summer, the lighting is less harsh and from a more interesting point in the sky. The Wedding was at Saint Monica’s and the reception was at a private club called, The Beach Club. Everything turned out awesome!

There’s a ton of other really great shots from the reception, I’ll try and post some later when I have more time!

Wow, it’s been too long…

Do I still have readers out there or have all given up on me!!! Blogging is one of those things that I go in spurts with. I’ll post consistently for a couple months and then I get distracted and working on other things and I forget to do it. which is too bad because I actually enjoying writing, sharing my photos, and keeping in contact with friends, clients, and other professionals! Blogging is great for all those things if I can keep it up!

So I’ve had 2 weddings this year so far and have had gorgeous weather. I’ll post more on those later.

I just started reading Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard which seems to be a read that has the potential to transform my whole life if I’ll let it! It’s about shaping character and overcoming shortcomings we’ve not been able to overcome our whole lives!

I’m going through a season of change in friendships. 2 really good friends of mine are recently moved out of the area which is very sad to me. I also seem to be developing 2 new friendships that I’m totally stoked about. It’s funny how God seems to keep us on our toes in our relationships!

Stay tuned for some new wedding photos…there’s some really cool images from this year already. I’ve entered a bunch into the WPPI 16×20 photo contest. I love going to Vegas for this convention and hope to fit it in again this year.

Malone Girls Portraits

While working on holiday cards I was reminded of this fun portrait session I had not too long ago. I think I forgot to post about it so here are a few of my favorites! I am reminded how fortunate we are to have gorgeous weather year round here in California. I much prefer working outside on location from studio props and lighting!

Holiday Cards and Portraits

I’ve been working crazy on finishing up all of my holiday card orders for the past month. This morning I finished my final 2 orders for the year. Here are what they look like; I design all my own cards and order them through my lab, WHCC who are totally awesome for me!

Guitar Hero

 guitar-hero-blog.jpg

So, I gave up playing video games a long time ago…I found that it was just too addictive and I would wind up sitting in my underwear in front of the TV all day instead of actually working and being productive.

But the other day, my 16 year old brother and his girlfriend were playing guitar hero for PS2 and I had to give it a shot.  What a cool game!  If you haven’t seen it, think “Dance, Dance Revolution” with the guitar.  I already play the guitar some, so it’s super cool to play along with popular rock songs and feel like your the soloing rock guru.  It’s pretty funny, I heard Slash from Guns and Roses speaking on Jay Leno a while back saying that he couldn’t beat his animated self on guitar hero playing the solos he wrote!

Speaking of rock, did you see that Led Zeppelin is touring again?!?!  Robert Plant and the boys have got to be like 100 years old…okay 61…was he able to stand up for the whole concert?

Cirque De Soleil

01_corteo_01_0800_600.jpg

I’m starting to get excited!  Me and the fam are going to see “Corteo” this Friday here in Orange County.  I’ve seen two other shows and it’s just spellbinding.  It’s just crazy what some of the people in the show can do with there bodies.    I feel like it’s the closest thing in our culture to what people did a century ago when people went to see “freak shows.”

The funny thing is, I read in the paper that Cirque is doing auditions here in Orange County to join the traveling crew.  I have a friend who thinks I should try out…the question is…what should I do in the show?

Fall at the SJC Mission

I had a lot of fun with my kids and “grandma” at the Mission recently.  What an awesome location for photography!  The flowers, architecture, and light there are amazing.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I’m definitely going to try and organize for sessions there for next year!

Harvesting Hope Event

Through some recent dialogue with my new friends at Orange County Lighthouse guild (www.oclighthouse.com) I just realized that I haven’t posted any images from a recent event. They are doing some great work raising money for abused and neglected young people and I had the privilege of photographing an amazing event they were a part of this month called harvesting hope. Here’s a couple of photos and a link to the rest. Definitely check out Orange County Light House Guild and make a contribution!
